Just Resilience Fund

If you work for a governmental agency, are you wanting to support the work of local grassroots organizations, yet challenged by the bureaucracy to find a way to distribute resources to them?

I have been working with a team of community organizers over the past year to design an innovative approach to solving this issue.

Pilot Test the Just Resilience Fund

The vision of the Resilience Fund is to pool funds from both private and public funders and redistribute them through a co-funding process to resilience hubs, spaces, blocks and nonprofit partners to build a more resilience, just and equitable world.

Hundreds of millions of dollars will be designated for resilience. We must ensure that they reach the communities most in need.

Funding sites and neighborhoods is the smallest bottom-up scale for collaborative funding, yet it’s where billions more top-down funding needs to land to rebuild the heart of our communities. Community steward networks can channel significant capital to grassroots groups using inclusive programs that bridge divides. Government grants and even foundations have cumbersome grant proposals that are out of reach for grassroots organizations.

Fundraising is most often not democratic and not community based. We must transform the model to top-down fundraising to include community-based decision-making.
